Chateau d' Haut
Chateau
d’ Haut (ho¯gh) is located at the north side of
the Valley, across from the cliffs below Ridge Road. ![]()
The Chateau is a lofty and cozy home for Living Islanders. Raised twenty feet in the air, this lodging towers above the valley and keeps it’s residents well out of the reach of any unfriendly ground creatures. Beware, however, of thieving squirrels and wild monkeys. To enter your fantasy tree home, you must climb the rope ladder on the north side, but please be careful and have no more than two on the ladder at a time. We wouldn’t want any… accidents. The Chateau boasts two sets of wooden bunk beds and two covered balconies with safety railing, perfect for nature watchers and birders alike. If you stand on the north balcony, face east, and call out, your friends in Grotto Manor will hear you. If they don’t call back, they might not be home, call back later. If you should happen to fall and hurt yourself or get poked in the eye by a wild monkey, have your partner take you to the infirmary for medical aid, band aids, casts, and/or eye patches immediately. Occupants of Chateau d’ Haut and Grotto Manor share showers and latrines. The latrines can be found in a cave a bit south of Grotto Manor and the showers are just south, across the road from there. See Latrines and Showers for further information. Chateau
d’ Haut Legend Reports also state that several ghosts can be seen down by the river from the Chateau’s balconies and windows. We, the Island, are not liable for any injuries sustained or deaths while staying in the Chateau d’ Haut.
