Cabins

The cabins are located north of the Galley and east of the Latrines and Showers.

The Cabins on Living Island are part of your reward for winning the games. If you do well you get to stay in the nicer cabins. If you do poorly you'll end up in the Grotto. Once you've played a game and are required to change cabins you may, should you choose, bargian with other players for their spot. Any changes must be mutual and you may use whatever means necessary to do this.

Hopseed Hovel

Hopseed is the oldest of the Living Island’s cabins. This pleasant hovel sports three sets of dark framed bunk beds. Use caution when moving around upon these, they may not look it, but they’re not as sturdy as they used be. The Hovel also has beautiful dark hardwood floors that creak. Hopseed has many wonderful windows complete with mosquito netting which may or may not have rips and tears. This cabin also includes a sturdy wooden bench with possible painful splinters for resting after activities. Games can be found underneath the bench.

The exterior of the mid-class cabins are all identical. Each cabin has a lovely asphalt walkway with rickety wooden fencing. All mid-class cabins have a small spacious porch with a charming table and matching chairs for residents to play a fun game of cards, monopoly and whatever else they might want to play. Games can be found inside a small drawer, under a bench or inside a closet within each cabin. Games may vary from cabin to cabin.

Hopseed Hovel shares latrines and showers with the other mid-class cabins. They are the two smaller buildings just the west of the cabins. See Latrines and Showers.

Hopseed Hovel Legend
Hopseed’s local spirit is named Paulina. Story has it: One little spastic girl jumping on the bed, she fell off and… well… you know the rest.

We, the Island, are not liable for any injuries sustained or deaths while staying in Hopseed Hovel.

Chitalpa Chalet

Chitalpa, your modest home away from home, has three sets of comfortable wooden bunk beds. The walls have recently been repainted a beautiful powder blue hue that mismatches the teal and spotty white linoleum under the beds to prevent the beautiful hardwood floors that creak from getting scratched.

Remember that Chitalpa’s single paned windows slide up and down when they aren’t stuck. These window’s do not have mosquito netting, so be sure to close them at night if they aren’t stuck open. Chitalpa also has a rickety old desk and chair for one to use when typing journal entries.

Chitalpa Chalet Legend
Chitalpa’s spirit dweller is Yamiko. Originally from another cabin at the time, this kleptomaniac electrocuted herself to death by accident while stealing her Chitalpa neighbor’s taser.

We, the Island, are not liable for any injuries sustained or deaths while staying in Chitalpa Chalet.

Redrock Villa

Redrock is a fine cabin and a comfortable home. The insides were completely refinished recently, upgrading this cabin from one room to two rooms. The first room is the bedroom with three sets of metal-framed bunk beds. The second room, a living room with three desks and chairs, perfect for writing death lists to do lists, or updating your journal.

The walls are made of natural pine and the floor is hollow and echoes is covered with a light blue linoleum, which makes it easy to clean up the water that leaks through the unfinished ceiling/roof. There are also plenty of windows to let in the sunlight, two which may have or may not have been broken by other cabin dwellers due to jealousy.

Redrock Villa Legend
Redrock’s is occupied by a ghost with a obsessive compulsive disorder. Armaan was so incredibly sleepy one night, he forgot to lock the door… thirty-five times… or at all, and was eaten by a very hungry Rosebud.

We, the Island, are not liable for any injuries sustained or deaths while staying in Redrock Villa.

Snowdrift Hut

Snowdrift is an attractive abode that bears two sets of bunk beds and two twin sized beds all framed in a beautiful light colored wood. The walls have been painted a light tan and the floor has been fully carpeted in a beautiful blue color. Unfortunately this does not cover up the smell of mildew that still lingers from the old floor buried beneath.

This cabin has several small tables with lamps to brighten the darkest night. (Light bulbs may or may not have been stolen by jealous occupants from the Grotto several year ago.) Also, Snowdrift has two large wooden desks with chairs, perfect for working on those arts and crafts as well as a place to set your laptop.

Snowdrift Hut Legend
Snowdrift is haunted by the spirit of a jealous ghost. Originally from a neighboring cabin, Bob learned that his wife was cheating with a resident of Snowdrift. Planning to kill the rat bastard, Bob got a knife and immediately went to get his revenge. Unfortunately, on the way up the stairs of Snowdrift Hut, poor Bob slipped and fell on his own knife.

We, the Island, are not liable for any injuries sustained or deaths while staying in Snowdrift Hut.

Dogwood Cabin

Dogwood, the newest of the mid-class cabins, is a comfortable two-room residence. The newly remodeled interior is made of pinewood walls and a light blue-carpeted floor. The cabin features two sets of metal-framed bunk beds and two metal-framed twins. This is one of the only two cabins with electrical outlets which may or may not fling dangerous sparks at inhabitants who happen to be walking by so you can plug in that state-of-the-art hairdryer. Outlets may or may not short out, and/or start a fire.

The second room is a lovely office of sorts with three metal desks and chairs. They are perfect for writing letters to your loved ones who you will never see again, writing your will and updating your journal.

Dogwood Cabin Legend
Tiger is truly a unique spirit to the island and he belongs only to Dogwood Cabin. This house cat was stranded on the island with his master and was literally scared to death, poor thing.

Sprawling Flat

Sprawling Flat Sprawling is the most extravagant cabin on the entire island. To stay here, you must have won a game, congratulations! Here you will be spoiled beyond your wildest dreams. This cabin comes complete with its own master bedroom/bathroom, dining room and kitchen.

All rooms have dark hardwood flooring and all wooden accents match it beautifully. The walls have been recently painted and walls are trimmed with a slightly darker hue that goes swimmingly with the theme. Windows are both tall and wide letting in the abundant sunlight and sharing a spectacular view of the surrounding area. When the sun goes down and the moon comes up, it might become hard to see. Worry not; there are plenty of mounted and non-mounted lights to keep you out of the dark.

Other perks include: indoor plumbing, a large whirlpool bathtub right in the bedroom, a king-sized air bed, a refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave, pots and pans, a dining room table, a color television with DVD player and a few DVD’s that are switched out after every week.

Sprawling also has a quaint covered front and back porch, nice for relaxing after the day’s activities or watching the sun rise early in the morning. The front porch has two mahogany rocking chairs for your enjoyment. There is a large activity table on the back porch. You are welcome to invite the neighbors or your friends over for a fun game of spoons or BS, however, the back porch is the only area visitors are allowed. The Island has ways of punishing rule breakers, so please keep this in mind.

Sprawling Flat is the only dwelling where ghosts do not reside. Enjoy the peace while you can.
